New T-shirt, Made with love!

Don't you just hate it when you like a band, and when that band go on tour, you cant find a tshirt with the bands name on it!?!?!
I do...
So I've found a solution :-
make it yourself!!!
but I love the fact their gigs are small!
I love Cherry Ghost!

ceramics doesnt have to be in one piece!

I haven't blogged in a while, sorry about that.
I cant actually believe how busy i've been with university... but it seems it was all worth it as I've GOT MY DEGREE!!!
due to the fact i've actually started to relax...i'm suffering with a cold!
but it was all worth it! :o)

I've always loved the thought of test pieces, I like how they go into the kiln, and there is no pressure about them having to look pretty or beautiful...they are just purely tests...
but sometime you get a few gems...

i haven't shown much of my Ceramic work on this blog so here are a few pictures...

I made some crocheted bowls and dipped them into porcelain slip.

who said broken ceramics couldn't be functional!?

So there it is...My test pieces, I think they are special in there own right.

I havnt blogged in such a long time, mostly because of uni work. so I'm going to make the most of this spare time (while i'm waiting for the time to come for me to go and see my most favourite band at the moment... i can not wait!!!)

so anyway, here is what i've been up to...

I love crocheting these flowers, I like to experiment with the colours to see which look good together...

so here are a few examples:

The hair clips are my favourite, mostly because I love to wear pretty things in my hair.

Here is Beryl the Bumblebee, I made her for my lovely friend Gemma, and found the perfect person to photograph her with... Prince William...I think she would fit in very well with the family!...dont you??
Also my commission is going very well...Here is where I'm up to:

I was getting very impatient looking at the towers of granny squares I had, so I decided to start putting them together. I cant wait to see it all finished!

I've been getting on well with my ceramic aswell, I feel alot happier in my final year at uni. I'm really content with what I'm making at the moment:

Ill post more pictures of my ceramics next week...

inspiration and stuff...

I've had a vey good day today.
It hasnt really been productive for me, but its been really nice to see my brother get so excited about his latest work.

My brother, Ben is interested in Fine Art and he's been making pictures out of symbols in Microsoft Word, the picture are like surrealism.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/benuk/4304700952/

I think they are so interesting. he's now took to painting these pictures onto a canvas.

This is just the start of it, I'm probably just as excited as him to see what it will look like when it's finished.

To give him some inspiration I made him an "Inspiration sheet" I put lots of gothic pictures and pictures of Sherlock Holmes on it as thats where he's getting most of his ideas from.

Me and Ben were talking and we thought it would be really good to work as a collaboration and I could transfer some of his creations onto porcelain bowls... I think this would be really good and lots of fun!

He also found these really groovy "paper pallets" which contain 5o sheets and then you can just chuck them away when your finished with them!
I must say they are very clever!

Also my commission is going very well i've now done 34 granny squares...

Big news of this week...

Hello Happy Bloggers...
I've took on my first BIG commision...which is rather exciting but I must not let myself get so excited it takes over my uni work.
although its nice that I can work it into my work for uni.

The commision is for a blanket, my mum's friend wants me to make the blanket out of little squares so she made me a template with measurements ect on...

She also bought the wool she wanted me to use...And I was immediately shocked and unable to stop myself from having a root through the 2 bags full!
and of course I started making the granny squares straight away...
I heart Granny Squares...Nuff' said...

This is a scary but exciting "real world" experience and I cant wait to finish this commission so I can feel that feel of fulfillment...
and hopefully the career I've always wanted will get underway
which I'm so fired up for!

My new Cowl, and meet Nee! :o)

Today has been a good day, I've had such a laugh with a few of my gorgeous friends at uni...more on that in a minute!
first though...
Yesterday I finished this "Cowl". Its lovely and I'm so proud of it!
I added the flower, to make it more feminine. I think the contrast of the green and orange is really interesting, and I added a button in the middle of the flower which has a ship on it.
It goes with my obsession of old boats and pirate ships.
i love it! :o)

Today was really busy in the ceramics room, and I cant work when it's busy, so I went into the Jewellery/Metalwork room to work in my sketch book... and ended up making this:-
This is Nee the Neanderthal, I made him while playing with some modeling clay.
he now lives on my lovely friend Gemma's desk...So he can make her smile!
I think he does his job...You cant help but to smile when you look at him!

"Where is that crochet hook?" "Amy, its in your hair!" "oh yeah!".

Well, thats the first week back at uni out of the way...It wasnt as bad as I thought it would be!
I have a few ideas I'm really excited about.
Today was a really productive day I took the day off uni and put a few ideas down on paper and thought about measurements. and filled some pages in my sketch book.
After I was finished drawing, I sat down with my laptop and possibly my favourite band You Me At Six playing in my ears and wrote alot of my dissertation I was surprised how easily it came, I'm feeling very happy about my work at the moment! :o)

Because I felt like I got somewhere with my uni work today I decided to treat myself and to crocheting the rest of the day... first of all I finished the Jewellery Pouch i've been making:

I think the colours are really nice.

I've been inspired by one of my tutors at uni to crochet a neckwarmer
this is the start of it, I'm using a 10mm hook, and double knit wool, i'm probably breaking all the rules but I love the effect of the really loose tension.
I'm not following a pattern, I'm just trying different stitches, which I'm really excited about!

We also had our first knitting group last night, which was really fun, I cant wait for next week!
:o)
